“The Latin Queen of Comedy”, born to Peruvian parents, Lisa brings the funny with clever wit and a sassy fun attitude using her own life as the punchline. Lisa started her comedy career in Chicago by training at Second City. After 6 years of studying improv, she honed her skills as a Stand Up Comedian for the past 22 years. 

Lisa has appeared as a National Headliner to many theatres, comedy clubs, festivals, corporate events, and military tours. TV appearances include: HBOMAX Comedy Special, DryBar Comedy Special, NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”, Nick at Nite’s “Funniest Mom in America 2”, Harry Connick, Jr Talk Show, “Comics Unleashed”, Stand Up in Stilettos” , MTV, and many more.

Lisa recently wrote & sold an original feature film to a streaming company owned by Sony Pictures.  Ms. Alvarado’s jokes have been quoted in The New York Times. She was a staff writer on two different TV shows including 160 episodes of a show entitled “Funny You Should Ask”.

In 2018, she started her own production company called LA Amigas Productions.  Lisa is the creator & producer of an award winning web series and won best actor in a web series at the Official Latino Short Film Festival. Lisa’s goal with LA Amigas Productions is to empower women and ethnically diverse writers, producers, editors and actors while delivering excellent content with a strong point of view and humor, as in her documentary, “The Funny Thing About Death”.
